About Us

D3S_7909It all started with a pair of Barbie scissors. At the age of four, Adriana McGowan knew she wanted to be a hairdresser. That passion has taken her from cutting her dolls’ hair, to behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week.

Adriana began her career at 15, working as a makeup artist, which taught her perhaps one of the most valuable lessons in the business: how to enhance one’s skin tone, and best features. She has been trained and worked under eminent cosmetic companies like Chanel, Dior, and Lancome. Her love for beauty lead her to cosmetology school. Since then, she has trained under the most prestigious, and knowledgeable colorists and stylists in Manhattan working at salons like Patrick Melville, Sahag Workshop and Roy Teeluck. With her extensive knowledge and understanding in coloring and cutting, Adriana has used her experience to craft her own signature style. She specializes in effortless, low-maintenance color and cuts that work with any lifestyle, as well as corrective work.

Since the start of her career, Adriana’s work has been featured on countless runways, such as New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, for designers like Ronaldo Santana, and Georgine. Her work can also be seen on national print adds for companies such as Wella and Clairol. She has even worked to help create signature looks for large retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue.

Adriana makes it a point to give back, volunteering her time at the Ronald McDonald House of New York for the past three years, providing hair services for the families and caretakers of children undergoing treatment.

Her next stop: Middle Village, a community her family has been a part of for fifty years. As the owner, a stylist, colorist and makeup artist at The Top Knot Salon, she hopes to bring a touch of Midtown to Middle Village.
